All I can say on this dreary winter’s day is bring on a snuggly shearling jacket as seen on the runway at Burberry Prorsum A/W ’10 collections. The beautiful thing about shearling jackets is that if you can’t afford Burberry (and on Rands, who can?), they are oft found in the best vintage stores, here and abroad. Sure, it may not have that new-coat smell but just think of how good well-worn leather feels on, plus worn right (skinny jeans, chunky boots, layered Tees) they add an effortless ‘I’m so music-festival-ed out’ edge to your weekend outfit. If, like Burberry, you want to look a little less, erm, weathered, then scrub your look up by pairing with more luxe textures – sheers, shimmers and sky-high heels. The point is, you’ll be warm, and in a Cape Town winter, that’s what really counts!
