• You may have heard of Cape Town artist Lorraine Loots’ 365 Postcards for Ants miniature artworks project which she completed last year.

During 2013, Lorraine painted 365 detailed miniature paintings as a personal challenge. This year she’s changed the format slightly – yes, she’s painting 365 paintings, but they all have a Cape Town slant (given the city’s World Design Capital status) plus you can book a painting on a specific date and give some suggestions of themes that mean something to you.

I’ve already booked The Captain’s birthday and i’m holding thumbs that i can book the poppet-to-be’s birthdate too. I couldn’t think of a better, personalised gift. Aside from the original signed artwork, each day will also have 5 postcards of the artwork available to buy.

Lorraine’s miniatures are certain collectables-in-the-making. Love them!

Vicki and everybody else, have a look at Durban artist Heidi Shedlock’s work. She also does daily paintings – follow her blog or on facebook – lots for the protea lovers!
