I met with the Rhubarb Room girls Lauren and Sone last week and i was a little early so  had a little time to soak up the world they have created within four walls. There were so many goodies that i was dying to buy for all the birthdays coming up (and maybe a cheeky birthday present for myself too – i am a firm believer in the drawn out, days-long birthday festival and with my bday on the last day of February, i generally start early).

This is their own range of bath and body products – love the  packaging and their clothes are of the easy wearing, effortlessly elegant (and very forgiving of the post holiday flab) ilk – cottons, neutral colours and wardrobe classics aplenty. And if you’re expecting, they have a great maternity selection too.

I spotted some Christmas decorations on sale (50% off so get there now and know your tree will be gorgeous come Christmas time 2011) and if you’re a stationery you-know-what well…they have gorgeous stamp and gift card sets marked down too.

Rhubarb Room’s café is really popular as a venue for girlie get togethers – i’m not really surprised given the pretty surrounds…and just look at the ribbons display, love, love, love it…one day when i’m big i’m going to have a ribbon shelf just like this one.

I popped in there just before Christmas- what a gorgeous shop with lovely unusual goodies! The Christmas decorations were lovely.

A friend and I popped into the store just after New Year during a lunch break…what a fabulous spot…and the ladies running the show, what a pleasure to meet people so passionate and friendly. We were offered a glass of bubbly by friends of the owner who had decided that the narrow, shaded balcony overlooking town was a great place to sit and watch the world go by and catch up with friends. Can’t say I blame them and it was a very tempting offer that we definitely would have taken them up on if the boss wasn’t waiting for us back at the office. A great spot to escape to and to pick up some beautiful goodies for friends…or for yourself.

I visited Cape Town last year and I’m now discovering so many fantastic places that I would’ve loved to see! Next time I’m there I would’ve done my homework! Lovely stuff and so inspiring.
