• Back when places like The Fringe Arts opened its doors, celebrating amazing local contemporary design wasn’t a new concept but it certainly wasn’t a mainstream one. Thanks to the efforts of people like the gals behind this wonderful Cape Town store and of course the artists, designers, movers, shakers and makers themselves and the people who appreciate their talents, so South African art and design has become known as among the best and most original in the world (hello World Design Capital 2014!) And let’s not forget Trevyn and Julian McGowan of Southern Guild who fly the flag both here and abroad for unique South African design.

Which is why when news of online stores like Hello Pretty reaches my ears i’m so happy.

They join the realms of other online pro-local design spots such as Green Elephant Collective, Room Online, Meekel, the newly launched We Heart This and a few other online outlets who i am not remembering right this second (sorry).

Take a look at the lovely Hello Pretty and enjoy being able to access local design at the click of a mouse! It’s a carefully curated online space of delicious local design.
