• Hello lovelies! So, a few weeks ago, the Loot team contacted me to tell me about a great new development that’s happening on their platform – they’ve just joined the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet program which means that the purchase of any one of the 14 million products on their massive website can benefit a school or charity of your choosing.

With all the negative press about the take take take stuff that’s happening in South Africa, it really does feel good to know there are businesses and people committed to give and i’m also glad that even if it’s a small gesture, it is possible to make a difference – by simply inputting your MySchool details when you check out.

So…lucky me, i was asked to do a shop on Loot and since we have 11 immediate family birthdays coming up in August and a baby coming in the same month, i decided to get some gifts out of the way too.  Loot has over 17 categories including the likes of DVD’s, Books, Stationery and Beauty Supplies but i decided to focus on my soon-to-be-4-year-old niece Isabella and my stepdaughter Sarah who is turning 14 – their birthdays are a day apart,  so i headed to the kids department and electronics department to see what i could find…

Erm, i got a little waylaid while browsing for them and made a wishlist of lovelies i want for myself

My order for the girks’ gifts arrived within three days – so hassle free and two more people from my very long birthday list sorted.

For Sarah, who being a teen is mad about music, obviously, i bought a portable speaker and for Isabella i bought some LEGO friends. Both were really well priced and best of all was the free delivery! I also added two packs of Lyra water soluble pencils to the order – one for Charley for rainy day drawing and one for Isabella.

Click, Shop, Give Back – it’s easy and it feels good in more ways than one!

    Don’t have a MySchool card?

Click here to apply – it’s a really quick process and if you have any questions, the team are really efficient in answering them quickly.

Here are some good-to-know’s about using your MySchool card on a Loot purchase

    • To celebrate their joining the program, Loot is giving away 2300 Tutudesks lap desks – the cleverest creations designed to provide a stable desk-like surface for schools where facilties like classrooms and desks are sorely needed.

    • Delivery on purchases over R250 is free

    • MySchool raises a whopping R6million a month for schools and charities – you’re really helping to do your bit!

    • It’s so convenient – you don’t even have to leave home to sort gifts and household purchases

Afri CAN is an amazing organisation based in Cape Town that has at its heart a free daily breakfast program. Since being founded in 2014, they have served close to 100 000 breakfasts to impoverished township children but that’s not all they do. Afri CAN has a restaurant entrepeneurship program too, they sponsor the Young Eagles Football Academy in Imizamo Yethu and have built a number of Early Childhood Development Centres – in short, they’re doing great things for kids! I love knowing that all MySchool transactions are immediately linked to this incredible organisation.

If you haven’t signed up to be a MySchool participant, i really do encourage you to do so. It costs you nothing but has far reaching rewards for your beneficiaries – be they kids, the aged, green intitiatives or animals. When you check out of your Loot basket, all you need to do is punch in your MySchool deets and you’ll be good to go!

      Love this initiative.
A few years back, my friend requested that everybody signs up and nominate her chosen beneficiary ( a school). I am still using this card and have also added my own beneficiary and can see how I am making a contribution monthly!!
