I love an interesting back story to the design of something beautiful and when i heard that Pauline Mutlow, the creative powerhouse behind iconic Cape Town contemporary furniture store Lim was inspired by Vermeer for her new furniture collection, i was pretty much sold. About ten or so years ago i had the privilege of visiting the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for the first time and it was there that i saw for myself how absolutely masterful artists like Vermeer and Rembrandt were – their ability to paint light and the luminiscensce of the colours Vermeer mixed had me in a daze, that morning in the museum will truly remain an incredible moment for me.
So, i need no convincing about this new collection of ochre milled steel furniture from Lim – the colour is so fabulous and the lines and shapes even more so..i want, want, want
I must have this side table!!
