• My friend Sally came for tea on Saturday and she was telling me how she’s looking for some velvet fabric to cover an antique chair she’s inherited. I LOVE velvet – not only does it feel amazing, it looks fabulous whether it’s brand spanking new or worn. It’s as lovely covering a big ol’ couch or as cushions or an occasional chair. And let’s not forget how fabulous velvet is when covering an ottoman! Velvet just brings an opulence to a space that other fabrics can’t. Mandy did a post on blue velvet couches which many of you loved so i’m sure you’ll like the images i’ve found for you today.

Love this eclectic vibe – i would never normally think of green velevt, but this i LOVE

David Bellamy in Muizenberg has an amazing range of velvets that i have been visiting regularly – so many beautiful colours – I am coveting a light sea green, a pale grey and a bright yellow at the moment …

Hi Robyn – i agree with Hannah – Bellamy & Bellamy’s velvets are beautiful. You’ll also find a good selection at Lowry Fabrics next door to Fabric City and i’ve also bought from U&G Fabrics in the Palms – v good quality! V xx
