I spotted You Me Home on someone’s Facebook wall the other day and i immediately went and had a look. The brainchild of local talent Philip Montsho, You Me Home is all about making contemporary furniture available to those who love modern design but who don’t necessarily have a budget for imported pieces. The items all come flatpack and are very nicely priced – some of them are a little rudimentary for my taste but would work in an industrial-influenced space but i think others like the Vicky leaning shelf and the plywood shelf are simply fabulous and really nicely priced. Philip was inspired to start his range in response to the fact that as a student he found very little in his price range and to suit his aesthetic preferences – i think he’s hit the nail on the head for just that market and for people looking for simple, clean lined furniture that they can dress up a little or allow to shine in their pared down pads.
The Simplo desk is R850
Of course there’s a part of me that wants to take a spray canister and add a coat of glossy white paint to one or two of the pieces too…
What do you think peeps? Too plain for you or a timeous solution for cash strapped students and lovers of pared down style?
