iwantthat is a blog that focuses on the details. The details that can make our lives prettier, more interesting, more colourful and hopefully more inspired. It’s a blog that showcases interesting people in the decor, design, arts, food and creative world (both in South Africa and abroad) and the things they do.
Founded in 2010, iwantthat aims to pinpoint and demystify current decor and interior design trends, offering new insight for bringing variation into our homes. And it’s a blog that’s passionate about sharing – be it the lives of interesting people or great places to visit – from decor, gift or fashion stores to restaurants, exotic travel destinations or secret sundowner spots.
You know – that info that makes life that much more interesting?
iwantthat is the lair of freelance magazine journalist, editor and stylist Vicki Sleet. Based in Cape Town, Vicki has been in the industry for the past fifteen years and has written for magazines that include the likes of House and Leisure (where she worked as Features Editor until 2005), Elle Decoration, Woolworths Taste, Eat Out, Eat In, Private Edition, Time Out, Horizons (the British Airways inflight magazine), Food and Travel UK, Wine Magazine, Wedding Album, Men’s Health and Women’s Health. She produced the copy for the books Bake, Comfort and Celebrate published by Quivertree Publishing, is the Cape Town Expert for travel website Simon Seeks, writes for The Guardian (web) and consults to a variety of businesses for web, brochure and marketing material copy. She is currently the Assistant and Lifestyle Editor ( focusing on Food and Decor) at Good Housekeeping Magazine.
Always on the lookout for cheap and cheerful finds (her alter ego Bargain Betty shares her discoveries on the blog), Vicki is a self-confessed nosyparker with a passion for sharing what’s new, interesting and out there in the world. She has a penchant for buying up must-have items (from the prettiest paper doilies to heart shaped sweeties and stripey boxes in case a moment of organisation descends on her office) and her life is crammed with details that need to be shared. iwantthat is that outlet.
Her most recent online endeavour is I Want That Wedding – a blog for the style savvy bride and groom looking for ideas and inspiration for their big day.
Vicki lives in Cape Town with her husband Justin (aka The Captain) and their children Charley and Ava.
